Planetarium at the Sydney Opera House

I recently traveled to Sydney to work with musicians Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, and Nico Muhly and video designer Deborah Johnson from Candystations on a new song cycle entitled “Planetarium” as part of the VIVID SYDNEY Festival. Deborah designed the “orb” and the fabulous interstellar video content.  I designed the playback system, installed the 16’ inflatable sphere that hangs over the band, and programmed and operated the show. It was truly a great experience. The show is a 10 song cycle dedicated to the planets that includes Sufjan on vocals and electronics, Bryce on guitar, Nico on piano, celeste, and keyboard, 4 string players, and a trombone septet. Lighting was designed by Ben Stanton and Audio mixed by Brandon Reid. This is the 4th performance of the show. Previous performances were at the Barbican (London), Het Muziektheatre (Amsterdam), and Muziekgebouw (Eindhoven).
